Fantastic Festival Chic

Pixie Lott

I’m sorry to have disappointed you last week by only providing you lovelies with only one blog post last week. In my defence it was my birthday last week and I spent the majority of the week crying into my pillow that I was nearer to 30 than to 25 years old (I was 28 in case you can’t be bothered to do the maths). Well I feel bad about letting you guys down, so I have decided to give you a little something extra this week and rustle up you a quick guide to festival hair.

If you are lucky enough to be going to a festival this summer, you will probably be aware that unless you have access to the VIP areas (or can sneak or blag your way into them- I look a little bit like the chick from Harry Potter so that’s what I would use, Quidditch and all that) it’s not easy to stay glamorous with port-a-loos and knee high mud. But if you do manage to keep your head above the mud you can have some fantastic hair to detract from the mud overflowing in your wellies and grass stains on your favourite denim shorts (I don’t want to know how you got those grass stains, that’s your business).

Make the most of gorgeous freshly washed hair on the first day of your festival (or even camping trip) and draw attention to it with a great jewelled or floral headband. It’s the perfect hippy chic look that works so well for a festival when teamed with a denim vest, ditzy floral vest and some biker boots…gorgeous. Pixie Lott does the floral head band look well don’t you think?

Pack plenty of kirby grips as they are a girl’s best friend at a festival as they can stylishly keep the hair under control and out of the way when you’re dancing it up to your favourite band. Plus you can create something really beautiful and chic with just a few kirby grips, just check out Fearne Cotton…she gets it.

After a day at the festival all that dancing and partying will take its toll on your hair resulting in greasy roots. The prefect way to cover up those greasy roots is with a stylish hat. I’m a big fan of the straw fedora like Ashlee Simpson, with her blonde beachy waves and oversized sunnies she pulls the look off perfectly. However, an oversized floppy hat will also work well and cover a multitude of hair sins.

On your last day at the festival your hair is gonna be pretty atrocious, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your glamour. Get some sea salt spray through your hair to tousle it up and then cover the roots with a quirky headscarf like the lovely Ashley Olsen.

So there you have it, festival chic 101.

This is your friendly neighbourhood hair guru signing off...until next time citizens
