Adele Grammys 2012

It's the height of awards season, which means we get to check out the 'looks' our favourite celebrities are rocking on the red carpet. This week saw the 54 annual Grammy Awards, with some of the world's finest music artists gathering together to celebrate the best of the previous 12 months in music. In terms of awards, it was Adele who was the big star of the show (we knew she would be) – the British singer-songwriter picked up all six awards she was nominated for, including Best Song and Best album, and not only that, she looked absolutely fabulous in her floor length Georgio Armarni gown and old-school glamour shoulder-length waves. Can anyone say girl crush?

Anyway, enough fawning over Adele, it's time to get down to business. I think it is safe to say that the Grammy's always offers one of the more diverse red carpet 'clientèle' and happily this year was no exception. There was 'The Good', there was 'The Bad' and there was 'The Down Right Crazy'.

The Good

So many ladies were looking so good on the red carpet, it was hard to pick just a few favourites, but somehow we managed, do you agree with us?

KELLY OSBOURNE:

Kelly Osbourne 2012 Grammys

Doesn't Miss Osbourne have a figure to die for? She gives Marilyn Monroe a run for her money in this fabulous Toby Ward one-shoulder dress. Kelly hasn't always worked her hair to it's finest potential, but her lilac waves are a huge hit with us – they compliment her rosy skin tone and delicate make-up personally. In the style and beauty stakes, Kelly Osbourne was our top pick of the night.

CORRINE BAILEY RAE:

Corinne Bailey Rae Grammies

Corinne Bailey Ray may be one of the sweetest women in the world, with a voice to match, but you better believe the girl can do sexy. We are in love with her Christian Siriano gown – with the designer's signature over-the-top ruffling, it was the LBD amplified to the nth degree. Her voluminous curls swept over to one side, matched the dress perfectly and really amplified her beautiful features. The whole look was finished off perfect with a deep plum lip, an unusual choice of lipstick for Corinne, but it really worked for the slightly Gothic ensemble – Stunning!

JESSIE J:

Jessie J Grammys 2012

Jessie J upped certainly upped the glam for the Grammy's still managing to stay true to her signature quirky style in an amazing mirrored gown by Julien MacDonald. We have always loved Jessie's severe fringe as it suits her amazing bone structure, and with her hair pulled into that high ponytail, her whole look is sparkling. We wish we could get out hair that shiny!

AMBER ROSE:

Amber Rose Grammys 2012

Stunning model and former girlfriend of Kanye West (Kanye you idiot!), shows that you don't need an over-the-top outfit or hair do to be top in the style stakes. Usually known for her outlandish and shocking red carpet outfits, this time Amber opted for a simple sunflower yellow Versace dress with sexy thigh split and a gorgeous clashing red lipstick. Amber is one of our favourite hair icons here at Hairbomb for her uber close cropped platinum locks – and if we had that flawless skin and exquisite face we would say good bye to our hair too. Can't wait to see her next red carpet look already!

The Bad

Of course, with the good comes the bad, and I know this is what many of you out there are waiting for – it is always good to see a celebrity looking 'human' once in a while.

RIHANNA:

Rihanna Grammy's 2012

We aren't sure what is happening with Rihanna's hair – the 1980's mullet waves, the slightly yellow blonde and the black roots. There is no denying that Rihanna is a beauty but this time she has missed the mark with her hair. Thankfully due to the revealing nature of her dress – a collaboration between herself and Armarni - we're betting that not many eyes were focused on the hair. In conclusion, Rihanna you are gorgeous, but even you can't carry off the 1980's wrestler hair.

KATY PERRY:

Katy Perry Grammys 2012

We love Katy Perry here at Hairbomb HQ and we think Russell Brand is a Grade-A idiot for letting her get away. We absolutely love the baby blue Elie Saab beaded gown and the ice-blue shade of her hair, but what we don't love are the roots. Katy's whole look is 99% there, gorge dress and stylish quiff, but unfortunately we just can't stop focusing on the 1%, the mismatched root -it's such a shame. However, Katy is still a star with us for her ultra brave choices in hair colour over the past few years.

BONNIE McKEE:

Bonnie McKee grammy's

American singer-songwriter, Bonnie McKee has always been a bit, shall we say, unusual, but she went all out for the Grammy's 2012 in a rather unusual Falguni & Shane Peacock mini dress. We actual think the structured metallic gown with long yellow fringing is pretty darn fly, but it just clashes awfully with her washed out red and blonde hair. If Bonnie had opted for an all blonde sleek ponytail, she would have pulled it off – so next time remember, sometimes less is more.

The Crazy

It just wouldn't be the Grammy's without mentioning the crazy – of course the brilliantly bizarre Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj have the monopoly on completely crazy. So in our selection we went for those wonderfully weird ladies that keep slipping under the crazy radar thanks to Miss Nicki and Gaga. We love crazy, by the way!

ROBYN:

Robyn Grammys 2012

We have noticed that Robyn has featured on many of the worst dressed lists for the Grammy's for her oversized white tee tucked into, lets face it, unflattering satin mullet style skirt. And we just don't know what to say about her platform work boots and ring that makes it appear like there is a giant nail through her finger. Regardless we just can't get enough of Robyn, she wears what she wants, not for attention or column inches, but just because she like it, and that helps her carry it off well in our opinion. And besides, who else in the world could make a 7-year-old boy's haircut from the 1990's look good? You go girl!

CYNDI LAUPER:

Cyndi Lauper Grammy's 2012

The original Hairbomb hair icon, Cyndi Lauper was half Lady of the Lake, half Medusa, but all fabulous as usual. Yes, she was slated in the fashion press, but we love her half blonde and half black curls, and for a 58-year-old she is working that Jean Paul Gautier black blazer topped gown, with thigh high slit. We hope Cyndi doesn't listen to all those haters, you keep doing what you're doing girl, it's fabulous!

SASHA GRADIVA:

Sasha Gradiva Grammy's 2012

Finally, we have a singer brave enough to take on the mother's of crazy (Nicki and Gaga) in Sasha Gradiva. The Russian-born singer amped up the crazy by donning a gorgeous nude pink gown, oozing old-school glamour and then strapping on a Terminator style bionic arm. Well if that's crazy call us crazy too, because we love it! She s an absolute stunner with the 1940's blonde bombshell hair teamed with cat-eye make-up and a nude lip. We will be keeping a look out for what Sasha does next for sure!
