So over the past few weeks I have told you that Jordan and Lady Gaga are both losing their hair; they are both shy and retiring wallflower-types, maybe it could be linked to that? Of course I talk in jest, they are both horrifically in your face, but the fact that they are suffering hair loss is true, as a result of the shocking abuse they have put their hair through. If they, and many other celebrities (and wannabes), continue to treat their hair in such a way, they could end up suffering a serious case of the cue-balls.

Gail Porter coped with her hair loss through alopecia with super dignity and good humour, she became more beautiful than ever, but I can’t imagine Lady Gaga acting in a similar fashion. One Kojak reference and she would hibernate in the weird plastic egg for the foreseeable future.

Jordan, in the past year, had reportedly spent around £50,000 on hair extensions, which is almost double the average family income in the UK; it makes me feel a little bit embarrassed to think of that (my hair extensions, clip in of course, cost just £50). Jordan would need just a tiny fraction of that money to prevent hair loss by just following a few simple tips.

Supplement the Diet

Like a cute little puppy, we can also get a nice shiny coat with the right diet. Eat foods rich in protein and vitamin B, such as whole grains, chicken, wheat germ, turkey, citrus, soybeans, legumes, eggs, berries and liver. In addition, drink plenty of milk, as calcium is important in strengthening the roots and hair. Cut down on carbohydrates and sugar (I couldn’t cut them out completely…I love cake) as they can dry out skin and hair follicles. I know it sounds awful (well to me it does), but exercise may also help by increasing the blood flow to the scalp to help the hair grow quicker and thicker.

Hair Treatment

Hair loss in women occurs when the hair is weak (not emotionally, but strength wise), damaged or unhealthy. Unless absolutely necessary e.g. bird-related accident, don’t wash your hair everyday as it will dry out faster and try not to brush it when it is wet as this promotes hair breakage. Massage (or better yet get someone else to massage) your scalp for 10 minutes each day to help stimulate blood flow to the scalp. Yes hair dye is awesome, but ideally you should leave 6-8 weeks between each dye. And finally, stay away from the Croydon Facelift (Google it); it’s not good for the hair and it certainly isn’t good for the face.
