Those of you out there that live in the UK, like me, will be enjoying the warmth of an Indian summer, although its been so long since you needed it, your gorgeous straw sun hat is know where to be found. Of course we all know that it is unlikely to last and by the weekend we will once again be digging furiously in the back of your wardrobe for your umbrella and hats when torrential rain and gale force winds return. Caught unawares again, you kick yourself for being so ill-prepared.
So this got me thinking – there is probably no way you can prepare yourself for the unpredictable (and crappy) British weather, but you can make sure that you look fabulous no matter the weather. The fashion-savvy of you will know that the hottest styles and trends for Summer 2012 have just been showcased at Fashion Weeks worldwide. This included the key hair a beauty looks that will be big in the hotter months next year. So in the interest of being prepared, I thought I would bring you a three-part spectacularl on the top hair trends for Spring Summer 2012.
Prancing Ponies
The ponytail is going to be back with a vengeance for Spring/Summer 2011-2012 – I would go as far to say that it will be the staple hairstyle of the season. However, you can forget the bohemian, tousled and slightly messy ponytail of previous seasons – this time around its all about sleek and poker straight styles.

Marchesa

Tommy Hilfiger
To achieve the styles by Marchesa and Tommy Hilfiger above, start with a smoothing cream or serum, to make the hair easier to style and to give it that summer sleek shine.
1.) Wash and condition hair with a high shine shampoo, towel dry and comb through a thickening mouse from root to tip.
2.) Choose either a deep side or centre parting using a fine-tooth come to get the parting poker straight.
3.) If you are going for the 60’s style do from Tommy Hilfiger, secure the ponytail at the nape of the neck with a simple band and spritz over with shine hairspray to avoid any loose tendrils escaping.
4.) If you want to go for the extra sophisticated Marchesa look, secure most of the hair with a simple band and loop the remaining stand around the band to conceal it and secure with a hidden bobby pin underneath. To create the fishtail braid, split the ponytail into two sections and take a small section from one section and crossing it over the other. Repeat this several times and once you have your desired look secure underneath with bobby pins.

Monique Lhuillier
If you are more rock chic than smooth and sleek, then the sassier style seen on the catwalks of Monique Lhuiller is the one for you.
1.) Once again blow dry and straighten the hair.
2.) Work a smoothing cream or serum into the hair and without a parting, pull the hair back into a high ponytail and secure.
3.) Now my favourite part – tease the life out of that ponytail, the serum will stop it from looking frizzy no matter how much you tease it.
If you do try any of these ponytails at home please send us your pictures, we would love to see your attempts and stay tuned for the next part of the key trends for Summer 2012.
