Some shock news reached us this week at Hairbomb HQ this week – the gorgeous and tragic Marilyn Monroe was wrong, gentleman don’t prefer blondes. A study of 2000 men, by the social networking site, Badoo, has shown that, while ‘blondes may have more fun’, they will be doing it alone as men are officially more attracted to brunettes.

Almost two-thirds of the men surveyed said they found raven-haired lovelies the most attractive (33.1 % for brown hair and 28.6% for black hair). Disappointingly, only 29.6% of all the men surveyed prefer blonds and just 8.8% of men finding red-heads the most delicious of the flavours. This makes me wonder if you can attract every male if you have a little bit of every colour in your hair.

Another common belief, when it comes to what men find attractive, has been turned on its head by this study. Many may think that men prefer the model like figure (you know less curves than a ten-year old boy – and I can say that because it’s the figure I have, and I’m a 28-year-old female), but you would be wrong. Of the 2000 men surveyed, 38.8% of men preferred the ‘average’ dress size of 12-14, with only 10% of men looking for a size 6 – 8. Although, men enjoy a few curves, there is a lmit with only 4.2% of men preferring women size 18 plus.

When it comes to eye colour, blue is the big winner with a whopping 40.2 % of men listing it as their favourite. Brown eyes came second with 29.2 per cent, green 17.5 per cent and hazel 13.1 per cent.

This study says a lot about what men want, but is it really about them? I’m not about to change myself to be more attractive to a man. I love myself just the way I am (and that’s with my ever changing hair colour) and I have the prefect boyfriend who feels the same. So ladies and gentlemen, never change yourself because an insignificant survey tells you too, be who you want to be (as long as you don’t break the law)
