Is ‘The Rachel’ Reborn?
Jennifer Aniston was recently quoted, in gossip sites everywhere, as saying she hated ‘The Rachel’ haircut from the ‘Friends’ heyday, claiming it to be her ‘ugliest haircut ever’. I wonder how long-time friend and creator of ‘The Rachel’, hairdresser Chris McMillan, felt about that; I’m sure it’s caused many an awkward moment over coffee, Chris looking at Jennifer through narrowed eyes over his skinny, non-fat, non-foam, caramel macchiato and Jennifer pulling a hat low on her head in case Chris makes a grab for it.
But Chris, don’t feel bad; that hairstyle made Jennifer’s career and inspired millions of makeovers all over the world. Next to the Bruce Willis, which millions of ageing men copy involuntarily; ‘The Rachel’ is probably the most copied hairstyle of all time. Maybe Jenny herself is feeling a bit guilty for her harsh remarks and is extending an olive branch to Chris with her new ‘bob’ hair cut.
On the arrival of her 42nd birthday our fave ‘Friend’ Jen has had her usually long locks, chopped off into a very cute and classy medium length ‘bob’, channelling ‘The Rachel’ for the 21st century. Unlike, the girl-next door ‘Rachel’ of the 1990’s, the
2011 version is sleeker, sexier and sassier; with the golden blonde colour and face-framing length, Jenny looks years younger than her 40+ years. If I didn’t love her so much I would probably quite despise her.
So I’m guessing by now you have realised I’m quite a fan of Miss Aniston’s new ‘do’ even if I didn’t it would still be nice that celebrity hair news no longer revolves around the hair helmet of Justin Beiber and it’s recent change to a less plastic looking style.
