Emma must have caught me on a really good day. I was very protective of my waist-length hair. It was a mobile phone level of attachment. But when she asked if I would be ok with her chopping it all off, for some unknown reason I said yes. People bustled past as they entered Topshop on Oxford Circus, not knowing that they were present at a momentous occasion: the day I agreed to give my hair to Sassoon.
That was back in February 2010 and I’ve had a whole range of amazing haircuts since then, incorporating pretty much every colour in the rainbow along the way. I’ve joined the Hairbomb team to share my experiences of being a presentation model and all of the fun that goes with the job. I hope you’ll enjoy hearing about my adventures and the hair knowledge I’ve tried to glean from the amazing stylists and colourists I have worked with over the last year.

I definitely think being interested in hair goes hand in hand with a love of fashion. Everyone at Sassoon, from the models to the receptionists, has an individual look. I myself have just graduated with a degree in Fashion Design and found it really inspiring to be surrounded by such creative people during my final year. I may have imagined it but I think my new fashion forward haircuts also made my tutors stand up and take notice of me. I was diving headfirst (literally!) into the world of fashion and was beginning to really look the part. I truly believe that I appeared to be more dedicated to my chosen area of expertise and my tutors seemed to respect that. They paid me more attention and strangely my grades dramatically improved! This was probably in combination with me working extra hard as it was my final year, but I do think my hair was an important factor! Perhaps meeting Emma that day was a life-changing event.
